SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO CHOOSE MY STONE SLAB OR REMNANT

How to choose stone? Here are a few tips and suggestions in choosing your natural stone countertops.  Whether you are looking at purchasing Granite, Quartz, Marble or Soapstone, take the time to know about your stone first before beginning your selection of stone countertops. 

 Be sure to review the care, maintenance and cleaning suggestions of your choice of stone as well.  No matter which stone you choose it will add value to your home.  Once you have determined which stone countertops best fit your time management and lifestyle. Now it’s time to determine style, color and budget.

The Sample used to make your color selection will not exactly match the slabs used to produce your countertops.  All slabs have a variation in color and features. For each individual slab is unique.

Whether purchasing Granite, Quartz, Marble or Soapstone, for countertops take the time to know about your stone.

  1. Determine your budget ahead, so your sales person can direct you to options that fit your budget.
  2. Smaller projects take a look at HMKS Stone Solutions Kitchen & Bath Remnant yard for great stone budget choices.
  3. Spend sometime looking at other venues such as Houzz or Pinterest or magazines or lifestyle books for styles and features you like.  Save images you like for your sales representative.
  4. Determine what style you want rustic, traditional, modern, etc.
  5. Whether complete remodel or new construction, bring a sample of your new flooring and cabinets to the showroom.  If you already have existing cabinets take a door off and show the sales representative.  If no samples, bring photos with you of the kitchen or bath space you are remodeling.
  6. Determine if you want high contrast or low contrast.
  7. Walk around the showroom and slab yard and put your samples or images next to them.  Once you determine a few choices take ask your sale rep for samples of granite, quartz, marble or soapstone to take home and put against your flooring and cabinets and view in your current lighting.  Remember your lighting will be different at different times of the day depending on the natural lighting that may be in the room.
  8. After choosing your sample and confirming your color.  We recommend after you purchase your stone and the project has been templated by HMKS Stone Solutions staff, go to the HMKS Slab Yard and look over the current inventory carefully and choose your final slab or remnant.
